Neighborhood Taskforce
Seigle Avenue Presbyterian Church strongly supports the HOPE VI application. Along with its sister organizations, the Seigle Avenue Preschool Cooperative, the Jacob’s Ladder Job Training Center, and Seigle Avenue Partners, we urge the City Council to stand with the Charlotte Housing Authority and commit the full financial support needed to win the grant. We believe the HOPE VI plan offers the best chance to meet the needs of current residents, increase affordable housing, and set in motion the revitalization of Piedmont Court and the surrounding Belmont community. Our Belmont Housing Taskforce spent months studying the issues, listening carefully to Piedmont Court residents, meeting often with CHA representatives, and striving to understand proposal specifics. We find the following arguments most compelling:
