Disaster Relief

When Hurricane Floyd devastated eastern North Carolina in the fall of 2000, Seigle Avenue responded by sending teams of work crews to the tiny, historically African American community of Princeville to help the residents rebuild their homes.  Dozens of Seigle Avenue members and friends made the five hour drive to Princeville for several weekends during the winter, spring and summer of 2001.  The folks involved in that venture wanted to be prepared to respond more quickly and effectively if a similar disaster struck in the future.  Thus, the DISASTER RESPONSE Work Group was formed.  The work group is like the fire department:  we hope never to be called into action, but if disaster strikes, we will be ready!  For more information, contact Mike Watson.
