What is RAIN's Mission?

RAIN (Regional AIDS Interfaith Network) is a community resource providing compassionate care for individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS, and HIV/AIDS prevention education for our region.

We deliver our services through CareTeams, organized from a diverse network of churches, synagogues and other caring groups, with the goal of enhancing the lives of our CarePartners, volunteers, and community.

What are RAIN's Goals?

  • To develop and implement HIV/AIDS prevention education programs in church, synagogue, and temple communities.
  • To recruit, train and supervise congregation-based CareTeams.

A Little History

Founded in 1992, RAIN was organized to provide training and support to congregation based CareTeams. These CareTeams provide spiritual, emotional, and practical support to persons living with HIV/AIDS. Typical services and activities might include: home visits, listening, birthday parties, meal preparation, laundry, but most of all...LOVE.

RAIN has:

  • Completed prevention training for over 2100 individuals
  • Served over 300 CarePartners (clients)
  • Provided over 68,000 volunteer hours
  • Involves over 20 denominations and faith traditions
  • Representation in 11 counties
  • Over 50 congregations participating

Currently RAIN has over 100 CarePartners, with a waiting list of persons requesting assistance.
